A little history for any new folks

Ah the famous block party of Upper Knoll Street. A Boston legend. 28 years ago the old timers (yeah I said it Mike Schofield) got together and someone made ziti and there were lawn chairs and voila, it was a party that became a full on institution. This is only the 27th party but 2020 was of course a disaster so it doesn't count. The streak lives on!

The party is home to numerous traditions, mostly food-based, and all credited to our wonderful neighbors - the seven layer dip and ziti that I wait for all year, the authentic Spanish tortilla patata, whatever fine meats and fishes Tomas manages to steal from work, and, of course, Gerry's unparalleled chicken wings. As always we will miss the Godfather of Knoll Street very much this year. He loved a party.

I know we looked at our house with a realtor way back in 2005 on Block Party Day and the festivities made us say, "Who cares that someone spray painted graffiti all over the porch on this house? Does it really matter that they've punched a hole in the bedroom door? Or that it has no floors upstairs? NO. Because this place has a Block Party." And here we are, 17 years later. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as we have.
